Iris unguicularis (Iris)
The purple iris, with white spots marked with yellow and dark purple, is among the most beautiful winter and early spring flowers in Algeria.
It is a rhizome plant, forming very dense clumps.
Its flowers, which come from green spathes, are characterized by a long tube perianth and long unguiculate petals.
From the Iridaceae family, the iris is very common in the Algerian Tell.
Its rhizome can be used in perfumery.
