Rock Engravings Ain Naga
This engraving, which local legend refers to as Shy Lovers, is located in a crevice of rock, forming a right angle with two walls.
The figure represents a couple in a very modest attitude. The heads and limbs of the characters are drawn in profile, the torsos facing forward.
The man, 1.20 m tall, wears a hairstyle with a tuft thrown forward and locks hanging behind the nape of his neck. The head, with its rounded skull, has a protruding and pointed nose under which fine lines seem to represent a mustache.
On his back he carries a quiver from which arrows emerge. The woman offers a less pronounced profile marked by a little protruding nasal prominence, the forehead is high and a curved line goes from the protrusion of the nose to the neck.
The hair is abundant, carefully styled and held at the back by a sort of barrette.
This figure is engraved with deep lines in the rock in an elaborate technique from the hartebeest period.
In places, it appears that the surface of the engravings has been polished.
