General population and housing census
Ten years after that of February 1977, the 3rd General Population and Housing Census constitutes a high point in national life. In other words, a large-scale operation for which the public authorities are providing major interest and considerable resources.
Due to its scale, the density of the data collected, the volume and content of the information processed, this action will allow all operators, whatever their level of responsibility and intervention, to better identify the different and multiple changes in the economic and social landscape of the nation.
As a precise and recent measurement of the significant parameters of Algerian society, in the plurality of their aspects and their variations in time and space, the census and its results are a source of lessons and statistical information whose relevance and reliability will not fail to guarantee the validity of forecasts and development policies to be carried out in the future at the national, regional, local and sectoral levels.
Thus, for the State, local authorities, businesses and all national institutions, the census results are already proving to be a valuable material for forecasting, estimation, analysis, study and research activities relating to areas as varied as employment by sector, the state of the real estate stock, household consumption, demographic structure, population movements, the growth of cities and countryside, levels of education and schooling and the density of infrastructure.
Mobilizing considerable human potential, the third general population and housing census is part of the regular actions carried out by the public authorities aimed at assessing the progress made by the country and measuring the road ahead in all areas of the promotion and well-being of citizens.
