Milvus Milvus - Milan Royal
An excellent glider, the red kite, a species belonging to the accipitridae family, has a forked tail and its average length is 60 cm with a wingspan which can reach 1.50 m.
It has a white head.
The upper part of the body is brown and rufous, while the underside is rufous with black stripes.
The bill is dark with a black tip and the legs are yellow.
This species nests on trees and frequents mountainous areas and plains with scattered trees.
A rare species in recent years, the red kite has been on the list of non-domestic animal species protected in Algeria since 1983.
