The satan bolete or satan or even devilish porcini mushroom is a species of mushroom with a whitish to greenish gray cap.
It has an unpleasant odor, its silhouette is low and stocky, while its flesh is mostly white.
This bolete is not very common because it is only found on limestone or neutral soils.
Early, it appears at the end of spring and disappears in the fall.
Its hat is enormous, compact and fleshy. The foot remains short and stocky in relation to the cap for a long time.
It is yellow at the top, red in the middle, yellowish at the bottom. Its surface is marked by a beautiful network of fine red, pink or white veins and turns blue to the touch.
It is the only truly poisonous boletus, but it only causes gastroenteritis for people not accustomed to consuming it.
A fragment of flesh swallowed raw constitutes a powerful emetic.
