Carabe

The ground beetle is an elongated, long-legged beetle insect that hunts other insects, worms and molluscs. They are holometabolous insects (insects with complete metamorphoses). Ground beetle larvae are very mobile, running themselves in search of their prey. They feed on small animals, the contents of which they suck up. Pupation takes place in burrows. Ground beetles are important to agriculture because they destroy harmful insects. Few of them are harmful.
