Centenary of the creation of the international labor organization
The International Labor Organization (ILO) was created in 1919, under the aegis of the Treaty of Versailles, following the First World War. The ILO was founded to promote social justice and the establishment of lasting peace, believing that social justice is essential to ensuring peace. In 2019, the ILO celebrated its centenary, marking 100 years of efforts to promote social justice and rights at work. The ILO has particularly focused on promoting international labor standards, aimed at improving working conditions and ensuring decent work for all. The ILO has also played an important role in promoting freedom of association, recognition of the right to collective bargaining, elimination of discrimination in employment and other fundamental labor principles.
