Sedrata excavations
Sédrata (in Berber: Isedraten) is an ancient Ibadi Berber city, located southeast of current Ouargla, in the Algerian Sahara. The city experienced significant growth after the destruction of Tahert and the settlement of Ibadi refugees, it suffered two destructions (the last in the 13th century) which forced the inhabitants to flee again, this time towards the Mzab. The sandy remains of Sédrata were rediscovered towards the end of the 19th century, they house sumptuous stucco decorations.
