Benabdelmalek Ramdane
The martyr was born in Constantine in 1928, where he completed his primary and secondary education. In 1948, he joined the cells of the Movement for the Triumph of Democratic Liberties and became an active member of the Special Organization. Benabdelmalek Ramdane participated in the historic meeting of the Group of 22 in June 1954, which paved the way for armed revolutionary action and the outbreak of the glorious Revolution of Liberation on November 1, 1954. He was appointed deputy of the martyr 'Larbi Ben M'hidi,' the commander of the Fifth Historical Region, who tasked him with supervising the preparation of mujahideen groups in the Mostaganem region and train them in weapons, tactics and combat skills. On November 1, 1954, 'Benabdelmalek Ramdane' led armed attacks against the gendarmerie headquarters in the 'Cassaigne' (today Sidi Ali) region of Mostaganem, colonial farms in the 'Bosquet' region (today called Benabdelmalek Ramdane), and the destruction of a large electrical transformer in Ouillis. 'Benabdelmalek Ramdane' was martyred on November 4, 1954, near 'Sidi Ali' during a clash with the occupying forces, becoming the first military commander of the revolution to be martyred in the struggle for national sovereignty.
