Ténès Lighthouse
Maritime signaling includes all maritime navigation aid devices used to warn ships of dangers and to guide them on their routes. As long as he is offshore, the navigator only has the sea and the atmospheric elements to worry about. But when it approaches the coast, its security decreases, valuable and effective help is provided to it by maritime signaling establishments. The latter transmit information or warning signals via light, sound or electromagnetic waves. If the first two types of waves speak directly to the senses of the navigator, such as sight and hearing, electromagnetic waves are only perceptible via receiving devices. The word lighthouse means any maritime signaling establishment equipped with all or only part of the visual, acoustic and electromagnetic devices. The visual device that emits light waves is called fire. Lights constitute the most important devices to aid navigation at night and have three essential merits, the precision of the bearings, the free service (the navigator does not need any particular instrument on board to use it) and the immediate use of the information.
